(USFSI)

President Joe Biden has vowed to diversify the top ranks of government agencies. The small shrinking numbers of senior African American diplomats, in particular, could undermine U.S. foreign policy goals. Indeed, with the February 2021 appointment of Linda Thomas-Greenfield as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations (cabinet-level) as the Administration’s first major ambassadorial appointment,” reflected its pledge to “make institutions reflect the American public they represent at home and abroad.”

The USFSI, under the umbrella of International Ambassador Program, is designed to address President Biden's mission to diversify the top ranks of government agencies and to give students in Wards 7 & 8 an opportunity to learn of careers in international affairs.
